Cancer Research UK Suggests Sunshine In Spain
21st January 2011
With very little, if any, exposure to sunshine over the winter months, Britons could be putting themselves at increased danger of developing some of the more serious health conditions, say leading health groups in a recently-issued joint statement.
Bodies including the National Osteoporosis Society, the Multiple Sclerosis Society andCancer Research UK, have confirmed that a lack of vital vitamin D, most commonly stimulated by sunshine, could increase your chances of conditions such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, brittle bones, and rickets in children.
They confirm that little, but frequent, exposure to the sun goes a long way to combating these conditions. And whilst it is possible to store up enough vitamin D from adequate sun exposure during the summer, this will not only risk the well-known damaging effects which are caused by over-exposure to the sun, but the groups confirm that in general, Britons are still not getting enough sun.
